What is Front Matter and Back Matter?

Simply put, these terms describe the content that comes before and after your manuscript. We've made it easy to customize these elements of your book!

Manage Your Front Matter

If you wish to add other template pages to the front of your book, click on the ellipse next to the Front Matter folder. A menu will drop down that has these front page options: Title Page, Copyright, Dedication, Epigraph, Table of Contents, Foreword, Preface, and Acknowledgement.” Put a check-mark next to the pages that you want to display and they will automatically populate.

Manage Your Back Matter

If you want to add page templates to the back of your book you can do so by clicking on the ellipse next to the Back Matter folder. The ellipse will give you the option to put a checkmark next to the “Notes” and “Biographical Note” to a book. Put a checkmark next to the template page(s) you want to add to your book.

You can delete any of the pages that were previously selected for the front or back of the book by simply unchecking the boxes next to the page.

But what if what you want to add isn't on those lists?
