Like you, we are passionate about the written word and have great respect for freedom of expression. However, we’re also dedicated to making Chapterly a safe and welcoming place for all, and that means enforcing a set of rules pertaining not only to the content authors publish here but also to the community standards we seek to uphold.

These guidelines apply to all text and images on the site—books/stories being shared with the public, covers and other images, titles, descriptions, posts, comments, and profiles. We also prohibit the sharing of links to external sites that violate these terms.

If any member (Author or Reader) is found to be in violation, Chapterly reserves the right to remove both the member and the content in question. By creating an account on Chapterly, you agree to comply with our policies and acknowledge that failure to do so could result in the suspension of your account.

Community Code of Conduct

By joining the Chapterly community in any capacity, you acknowledge that the following is strictly prohibited in community posts, comments, direct messages, or profile content.

  1. Bullying or harassment of any kind

  2. Hate speech and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or any other characteristic

  3. Content that promotes, glorifies, or incites violence against individuals or groups

  4. Pornographic content in any form

  5. Content that promotes illegal activities of any kind

  6. Misrepresentation of one’s identity in a way that is malicious and/or predatory
(Ex: Using a pen name is fine; pretending to be someone else is not.)

Author Integrity

By posting your creative work on our platform, you agree to uphold a high standard of integrity in all matters, including but not limited to:

  1. Accurate representation of products and services

  2. Accurate representation of identity and/or affiliations

  3. Timely responses to paid subscribers about billing matters

  4. Diligent delivery of content as advertised

  5. Affirmation that you are the creator of the content you share and sell

Illegal or Offensive Content

Much of what is prohibited under the Community Code of Conduct is also forbidden in the creative works themselves. However, we acknowledge that terms like ‘objectionable’ or ‘offensive’ can be subjective, and we understand that some elements of fiction and non-fiction may involve sensitive topics. Every user report is addressed with unbiased consideration. You are not required to include content/trigger warnings, though doing so may improve your readers’ overall experience and satisfaction.

Your book or story may not contain:

  1. Hate speech and malicious discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or any other characteristic

  2. Content that promotes, glorifies, or incites violence against real-life individuals or groups

  3. Pornographic text or images

  4. Content that infringes on the proprietary rights of others

  5. Content that incites or facilitates illegal activities

We take careful consideration in all matters pertaining to the safety and satisfaction of our members. These guidelines are subject to change as the need arises and will be enforced in a fair and compassionate manner.
